Etched

Receding estuaries have left behind stretching arms and fingers like tree branch, extending out to the beyond.

Nucleus

Like an eye staring back up at us, this island of harder rock is surrounded by immense textures of the cracked earth slowly drying.

Storyline

An aerial story depicting salt lined creeks and deep grooves scraped from the surface from recent floods. This entire area was a metre under water only a few months ago.

Supplyline

Tributaries rimmed with green and golden vegetation stretch out to the dry parched earth promising relief.

Salt Spread

The river system is edged by a rich salty crust in this region closer to the coast and peters out to rich dark bands of dampness.

Banded Iron

Rich dark layering from the dampness and different stages of flood levels.

Corrosion

A favourite of mine from this area, showing the stages of dry to wet and gorgeous rusty tones of the drying up estuaries.

Tendrills

Splayed patterns of water mirrorlike in the sun, the lifeblood supplying nutrients for these wetlands to survive.

Cracked Earth

Remnant streams following a geological feature giving a repeated crackled effect peppered with smaller dotted grooves from the floods.

Fractaline

Rusty oranges border the final reaches of the drying out streams receding to grey areas, still damp, and finally olive greens, the lushness surrounding the deeper creeks.

Meandering

Wriggly verdant creeks stretching out to damp blush hues and finally salty white dry land. Little islands of vegetation provide much needed supplies for the bird and wildlife returning to the area.

Arterial

Vibrant lush greens of the wet areas to blush pinks and greys as the waters recede leaving grooves and splays of pattern and textures, reminiscent of arteries, supplying the lifeblood.

Oasis

Vibrant greens rimming the creek beds and providing life for the organisms that flourish here. This area was the most fertile of the whole region.

Softness

Like a piece of crinkled dry parchment, life clings to the remaining shallow stream as the area soaks up the last of the season’s moisture.

Forking

The rustic iron rich deltaic fingers of the river systems linger on the dry plains soaking into the cracks and crevices.

Feathering

Stretching and reaching from wet to dry, leaving a network of patterns and textures in its wake.

Branching

Ribbon thin streams remain post flooding, stretching out into the dry cracked earth as a final offering of moisture.

Vascular

Extreme dendritic patterns emerge from this deeper creek system flowing out into white saltier earth as we become closer the coastline of the Gulf.

Lifeblood

Evident dampness slowly being soaked up by the land, almost like a piece of crinkled parchment.

Rustic Olive

Closer to the main river systems the trees thicken and preserve the greenery following the river edge. Bright splashes of rust hold some water in lagoons slowly seeping away.

Riddled

An area of extreme textures as the waters recede leaving dry cracked pale earth, rusty bordered dry creeks and shallow clear water sandy streams.

WabiSabi

A classic tree-like structure that stood out from above due to the vibrant greens. This area was unique to the rest of the region and represented its beauty and wander.

Veins

A close up of the “Arterial” image for more detail of the textural patterns.

The Lung

Like a living organ, this dark grey dampness indicates the terminus of the creek, feeding its surrounds like veins providing life.

Dendritic

Veinlike tributaries reaching out to feed the land in its final stages before the dry season. The darker sections represent water soaking its way into the land.

Layered Rust

Dampness and salinity result in this mostly dark image of layers of rusty earth receding from the water source.

The Maze

Olive green streams following a geological feature, crisscrossing between two larger river systems linking them to form a maze-like pattern.
