Golden Pond

I woke up to a massive fog, quickly grabbed my prepared pack and drove down to the nearby lagoons and lakes around Twizel. Driving was difficult so I went to the closest one and couldn’t see a thing from the car park. Drove around to another more enclosed lake as the fog was slightly lifting and letting in some light from the rising sun like a massive diffuser.

Snow Strata

On route to Mt Cook this image presented itself as bands of clouds raced across the tops of the mountain ridges. It was the end of summer but still plenty of snow around the ranges.

Scalloped Sky

After two weeks photographing in Twizel with amazing landscapes everywhere, we had yet to see a great sunset. Dinner at the pub was cut short as I decided we should go to one of the many lookouts over Pukaki and shot the beautiful soft light of reverse sunset over Mt Cook. Then this happened, which is all due to the cloud formation rather than just colour. It was one to remember.

A Light Dusting

Taken from the verandah of our holiday house in Glenorchy. The day prior there was no snow and discovered this whilst having my morning coffee. The next day there was even more snow dumped overnight but with clear skies, I much prefer the dramatic moody skies.
